The 2019 mockbuster Monster Island from The Asylum, which was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is about an island called Monster Island where a monster may be discovered, who is sort of the island, the Monster Island, if you will.


This film is about an asylum. It has a budget roughly equal to a large child's meal. It concentrates on a small number of human characters and keeps its main stars on a (blog post) single set so that all of their sequences can be shot during lunch break. The Asylum may not do such a terrible job, but we must remember that this is the kaiju-genre.
